If you’ve never tried a pair of Darn Tough socks on before then you need to change this.
This American brand is favourite among hikers in the states and more of us over here in the UK are discovering them.
Last year we had a few different models to try out and you can read about how we got on with them here.
The 1/4 sock size is their second to third bestseller, so it was already very good, but Darn Tough wanted to make it even better for this coming season. Indeed, workers at the factories in Vermont are greeted by a sign on the wall that says “We have yet to produce our best sock”.
Darn Tough quarter height sock updates
Joe Nocito from Darn Tough says they went through 30 to 40 iterations to improve the 1/4 height hiking sock. He says: “Previously the top cuff was a double-ply, but we’ve turned now it in to a slim-fitting, single-ply cuff. The material that we would have used there has now been added as extra cushioning over the Achilles tendon.”
There are also side vents for breathability making this sock the perfect choice for your spring/summer hikes. There’s also less material used on the top of the foot to minimise it bunching up as you hike. A seamless toe also reduces the chance of any hotspots there and the entire flex zone has also be redesigned.
The Hike/Trek 1/4 Midweight with cushion sock is available for both men and women for £19, and in two new colourways; Taupe for men (Seen here) and Berry for women.
Don’t forget that Darn Tough also has an Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee.
