IF you’re doing any kind of hiking this winter then a rugged 3 to 4 season boot is a must-have.
And you can’t go much wrong with the Asolo Khumbu GV boot. It’s been updated for this winter so compared to older versions, this one has a three-layered design underfoot – there’s an Asolo/Vibram® Ascent sole then a dual density microporous midsole then a PU Antishock insert.
All of this means it soaks up the bumps better than the old design. It’s still made from thick water-resistant suede and lined with Gore-Tex.
Look a bit closer though and you’ll see it has full rubber rand round the sides (which seals the upper to the sole) and a collar to keep out rain or snow. It has deep tread and the re-designed heel means this boot will be great for striding down slopes strewn with loose rocks. And because it now has that PU Antishock insert along the length of the boot, the heel and ball of your feet stand to feel a lot less battered at the end of a day of hiking.
The Men’s version comes in two colours – Carrot or Wool/Nicotine and is available in sizes 6 to 13 (UK)
The Women’s only comes in Carrot and in sizes 4 to 9.5 (UK).
