LOTS of ski resorts hold a torchlight dinner but Lake Louise in Canada hosts one of the best.
Held every Friday night, they are a great way to finish a week’s skiing holiday. Taking the last lift up the hill when everone else has gone home is exciting in itself, then you step into the Whitehorn Lodge, where après drinks, great food and and live music will soon have you grinning ear to ear.
The best part though is when you step outside in the dark to ski back down and watch as the guides light up the red torches and then lead off down the tree lined runs back to the base lodge. You’ve skied this run all week in the daylight – and have got to know it well – but making those turns on a freshly groomed snow with the red light of the torch guiding the way is magical.
