ON Sunday March 9 the Aldi motorcycle clothing goes on sale as part of its Aldi Specialbuys series.
We’ve been sent a pair of the jeans and thermal base layers to have a closer look at them.
Here’s what we think:
Aldi Motorcycle kevlar jeans £29.99
Some of the big brands sell Kevlar jeans from £150 upwards so £30 is a good price point. However, the only part of the jean with the ‘kevlar’ is in the backside area. You do however get EN 1621 approved knee protection and there are velcro pockets on the inside so you can put in your own hip protection. Available in sizes: W32″/L32″, W34″/L32″, W36″/L33″ and W38″/L33″ and the denim is dark.
Aldi Motorcycle Compression underwear £9.99
These top and leggings remind me of the armour that Bruce Wayne wears when he becomes Batman. On the box there is lots of talk about Ergo-Zones, PerEffect thermo regulation and so on but the reality is that these have different textures and ‘ribs’ in the fabric. They’re actually extremely comfortable although you might feel some of the seams indenting your skin after you’ve worn them for a few hours. I’m usually an M – I was sent a L – and I’d definitely buy one size up from what you usually go for.
Aldi Chest Tube £4.99
One size only and made from a brushed and knitted fabric, this is actually a real winner. It has flat seams and elastic at the top so it doesn’t fall down over your chin when you’ve got a helmet on. Where this works really well is the wind resistant fabric. It washes at 40 degrees too – because we all know how dirty these can get after a week of breathing in and out through them when riding to work and back.
Here’s some more Aldi motorcycling clothing that will all be in store for Sunday 9 March – it’s a “while stocks last” jobbie so make sure you get down there.
