L’ALMANARRE sandy beach on the Giens Peninsula just south of Toulon-Hyères airport has become one of the most popular spots in Europe for kite surfing.
The conditions are truly perfect on this long strip of land, called “Route du Sel” which means salt road. The western side of the beach is completely exposed to the Provence wind, also known as the Mistral. As soon as the Mistral rises, enthusiasts head to l’Almanarre to get their fix while spectators admire the multicoloured wings above the sea.
