You might remember our story about the LifeStraw Personal a few years back.
This was a clever bit of kit that would let you suck up water from a puddle, stream or river and the filter would cleverly remove all of the nasties.
Well the same brand, LifeStraw, has launched a new Go Series of water bottles with a built-in water filter. It means you can you can fill up from questionable sources, such as taps in airport toilets, random villages you pass through, or at petrol stations etc.
In fact, the bottle has two kinds of filtration; there’s a an activated carbon filter that improves the taste by reducing chlorine, odours and organic chemical matter, while a membrane filter takes out bacteria, microplastics, sand, dirt and cloudiness. The Membrane microfilter lasts up to 4,000 litres—about five years of daily use and the activated carbon filter lasts for up to 100 litres.
As Tara Lundy, LifeStraw’s chief brand officer explains: “More than half of consumers own a reusable water bottle, but they often leave it behind on their travels and resort to the less sustainable and more expensive route of bottled water, rather than drink from unknown or unsafe taps. The LifeStraw Go Series was created to provide a sidekick that can stick with you on your adventures.”
LifeStraw’s new Go Series water filter bottle comes in nine colour options – Kyoto Orange, Laguna Teal, Nordic Noir, Polar White, Terrace Green, Aegean Sea, Icelandic Blue, Cherry Blossom and Merlot Me Away.
You can choose between a plastic one (which is BPA-free and made with 50% post-consumer recycled plastic) or a steel one (double-wall insulated stainless steel for keeping water cold).
With every product you buy, LifeStraw provides a child in need with safe drinking water for a year.
Today, LifeStraw products are used in more than 64 countries by schools, clinics, outdoor enthusiasts, adventure travellers and households, and are regularly deployed to support communities impacted by emergencies or natural disasters.
LifeStraw’s filtration technology is tested by independent laboratories and the company is a Climate Neutral certified B Corp.
