Having a pocket-sized pair of binoculars in your rucksack isn’t essential kit, yet a small and lightweight set can be really useful on a hike, especially for route finding.
Over the years many hikers have favoured Swarovski Optik’s CL Pocket model and for 2021, the brand has given them a refresh.
The main change is the shape has been re-designed so it sits more comfortably in the user’s hands and the hinge system for folding it down has been improved.
They are available in 8 or 10 times magnification. The CL Pocket 8×25 is £650 and it’s just £30 more to get the 10 times magnification (CL Pocket 10×25 £680). Eye pieces are 25mm in diameter.
They now come with eyepiece covers to protect them when they’re not in use. People who wear glasses will now find them easier to use as they have individually adjustable twist-in eyecups.
You can also choose a bag and carrying strap – one set is called ‘Wild Nature’ and the other is ‘MO Mountain’.
