PRETTY girls on motorcycles have long been used to promote products but Chanel’s latest advert manages to blend the old and the new with a waft of the retro-modern style that is so popular at present.
As well as wearing Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle perfume, Keira (we’re on first name terms) wears a beige outfit to match the Ducati 750 Super Sport machine’s paint scheme and the stonework of the Italian architecture.
Karl Lagerfeld designed the suede Chanel catsuit especially for her and the Ruby Belvedere helmet is a ‘luxury mobility accessory’ available to buy from here along with some great biker scarves too. The black and white checked one being my favourite.
The 1974 Ducati 750 Super Sport she rides is a significant motorcycle in Ducati’s history, mostly because large sales of the bike back then pretty much saved Ducati from extinction.
The advert film is called ‘Gabrielle’ and it was directed by Joe Wright, the English film director best known for 2005’s Pride and Prejudice and 2007’s Atonement which also starred Keira.
A 100ml bottle of Coco Mademoiselle costs about £86.
